Movie Time: Hanna

Poster from Sony Pictures

I checked out this movie because I thought it would be awesome to see Cate Blanchett play an antagonist role and being kicked by a very young and thin Saoirse Ronan.

I gave this movie an “OK” review because I wasn’t too convinced that Hanna was good enough to be an assassin. Or at least the film didn’t give me that satisfaction. Maybe it’s unfair to compare her with Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) or Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham), but she’s supposed to be a “trained assassin”. The choregraphy of her action scenes in this film could’ve been improved.

The whole time, all I could think of was the word “premature”.

It wasn’t a total loss though. I think it has a good story. And I still have a favourite scene (the holding cell where she killed the pretend-Marissa Wiegler). My advice is if you’re having second thoughts about watching this in the big screen, you’re probably better off watching it on your TV when the Blue-ray/DVD comes out.
