City Hall of Vancouver – Today I was at the City Hall picking up decals for work. I forgot what it was like looking for parking in this area. Every street parking is now pay-parking. Every residential block has a “No parking except with permit” sign. And the closest 2-hour free street parking is more than 3 blocks away.
Oh well. I thought I could use the walk and fresh air.
City Hall is looking all gloomy and gray. From afar, the building actually looks good, specially at night. Up close, however, it looks dirty because of the mouldy walls.
Inside it is very traditional feel. The lighting is very dim, and the offices smell like paper and ink, like they did in the 90′s when we didn’t have internet. The staff are okay though. I guess it’s because I was there for a normal business, as oppose to complaints or paying a fine/ticket. And it’s Christmas Eve – they get off at 2:30PM until after New Year’s. Lucky huh.

First heavy snowfall of the season turned the new Port Mann Bridge into a parking lot. It took me 3 hours to get to work this morning.

Tonight is my friend JV’s company holiday year-end party. I have been invited to this event and was looking forward to attending. My friend works for a huge telecommunications company who also owns several TV networks in the country. This party was to have thousands of attendees, including TV personalities.
It’s been years since I last attended a huge party. Lately it’s been intimate parties for me. One can get used to intimate parties. And when you do, large parties can be very intimidating.
Thankfully, I know 4 people out of the 3500+ attendees. And of course, it was interesting to see TV personalities in person. Food was great, and entertainment was also equally great (live band and DJ alternating).
The party was held at the Vancouver Convention Centre (already gives you an idea of how huge this party is). Here are select photos I’ve put together:

We also got to stay at the famous Pan Pacific Hotel (select photos above). It must’ve been 10 years since I last stayed here. Good to see the hotel has been maintained very well.
